"Irene"

This is a non objective abstract piece.
My painting is composed of geometric square shapes in a sort of patchwork design made up of straight lines going vertically and horizontally creating like a checkers board. Each square is a separate color although some only vary very slightly. I attempted to add texture in each square with the paint and the brush strokes. Overall I do not see it as 2-D so I would claim that is a flat piece. Reasoning behind the piece, my dear friend passed away a year ago and she owned a jacket made up of yellow and green patchwork designs. It is one of my favorite jackets and it was hers too. As i started this painting I could not help but think about her throughout the entire process and unknowingly I created something that reminded me of her and the jacket. So I named the painting, Irene, one of her alias'.
